Rooftop Daily (“Rooftop Daily,” “we,” “us”) is a free publication at rooftopdaily.com, published by The Balanced Media Group, LLC, 385 Main Street South, Box 214, Southbury, CT 06488. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have, including how to opt out at any time.
The short version
- You can read every guide without giving us any personal information.
- We collect contact details only when you choose to give them: to get our newsletter, or to request help from a partner through a clearly labeled Partner offer.
- When you submit a partner offer, we share your information only with the partner named on that offer, and only after you check the consent box. Each offer shows that partner’s name, its own consent language and a link to its own privacy policy.
- We are paid by partners when you request their help, and by advertisers when ads appear on our pages. Every partner offer is labeled “Partner offer,” and every ad is labeled “Advertisement.”
- You can opt out of sharing, marketing messages and personalized ads, and ask us to delete your information, on our Your Privacy Choices page.

Information from others
If a partner tells us the outcome of a request you made (for example, that it could not serve your ZIP code), we may keep that to improve which offers we show.
What we don’t collect. We don’t ask for Social Security numbers, financial account or card numbers, government ID numbers, health information or precise geolocation. Please don’t include them in messages to us.
2. How we use information
- To send the newsletter you asked for.
- To pass your request to the partner you chose, and to keep a record of your consent.
- To run, secure and improve the site, including fixing errors and preventing fraud and fake submissions.
- To measure which guides and offers are useful.
- To show advertising, and to personalize it unless you opt out (see section 5).
- To respond to you and to handle privacy requests.
- To comply with law and enforce our terms.
We do not use your personal information to train large language models or other AI models.
3. Partner offers: how sharing works
Many guides include a Partner offer: a clearly labeled box from one named company, such as a licensed roofer, an insurance agency or a lender. Here is exactly how it works:
- Each offer is identified. The box is labeled “Partner offer” and names the partner that will receive your information.
- Each offer carries the partner’s terms. The consent statement next to the checkbox is the language that partner relies on to contact you. It is shown in full before you submit. A link to that partner’s privacy policy sits with the offer. Once the partner has your information, its use is governed by the partner’s privacy policy as well as this one.
- Nothing is shared without your action. We share your information only if you check the consent box and submit the form. Consent is never a condition of buying anything.
- One named partner per offer. We don’t send an offer submission to companies other than the one named. If the named partner works through a service provider (such as a call center or a lead-delivery platform), that provider acts only on the partner’s or our behalf.
- We’re paid for it. The partner pays The Balanced Media Group, LLC when you submit a request. That payment never changes what our guides say.
If you agree, a partner may contact you by phone call, text message (including by automated technology) or email at the details you gave, even if your number is on a do-not-call list. Message and data rates may apply. You can stop these messages at any time (see section 7).
4. How we share information
| Who | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The partner named on an offer you submit | Your offer-form details and consent record | To respond to your request, at your direction |
| Service providers that work for us | Contact details, usage data, consent records | Hosting, email delivery, form processing, lead delivery (for example, ), consent certification, analytics, security. They may use the data only to serve us. |
| Advertising partners | Device and usage information through cookies (section 5) | To show and measure ads, and to personalize them unless you opt out |
| Authorities and others when required | Any category, as needed | To comply with law, legal process or a valid government request; to protect rights, safety and property |
| A buyer or successor | Any category | If the site or The Balanced Media Group, LLC is involved in a merger, sale or similar transaction, subject to this policy’s promises |
Sale and sharing under state law. Some state laws treat a disclosure for money as a “sale,” and treat use of cookies for cross-context advertising as “sharing” or “targeted advertising.” Disclosures to a partner that you direct by submitting an offer are made at your direction. Our advertising cookies may count as a sale or sharing, so we give everyone the right to opt out of them (section 7).
In the past 12 months we have not knowingly sold or shared the personal information of anyone under 16.
5. Cookies, analytics and advertising
- Essential cookies keep the site working and secure.
- Analytics () tells us which pages are read and how people find them.
- Advertising. Ads are served by . These companies may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can learn more at Google’s advertising policies and opt out of personalized Google ads at Google’s Ad Settings.
- Consent certificates. On offer forms only, a consent-verification script records the form session, as described in section 1.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising for that browser. We then ask our ad partners to show non-personalized ads. We don’t respond to “Do Not Track” signals, because there is no common standard for them.
6. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Know and access the personal information we hold about you, including inferences, and get a copy in a portable format.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your personal information.
- Opt out of the sale of your personal information, of “sharing” for cross-context advertising, and of targeted advertising.
- Opt out of profiling used for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. (We don’t make such decisions.)
- Get a list of the third parties we have sold personal information to, where state law provides it.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information. (We don’t collect it, as described in section 1.)
- Appeal if we decline your request.
These rights come from state laws including those of California, Connecticut and . We extend the core rights (access, correction, deletion and opt-out) to every U.S. reader, wherever they live.
How to make a request. Use Your Privacy Choices or email privacy@rooftopdaily.com. We will:
- confirm receipt within 10 business days, and respond within 45 days (we may extend once by another 45 days if needed, and will tell you why);
- verify your identity by matching information you give us (such as your email address or phone number) to what we hold. Opt-out requests don’t require verification;
- accept requests from an authorized agent who shows your signed permission. We may ask you to confirm your identity with us directly;
- not charge you, and not treat you differently, for using your rights.
Appeals. If we decline your request, reply to our decision with “Appeal” in the subject line within 60 days. We will answer within 60 days of receiving it. If you’re still not satisfied, you may contact your state attorney general. Connecticut residents can reach the Connecticut Attorney General at portal.ct.gov/AG.
California “Shine the Light.” California residents may ask once a year whether we disclosed personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing in the prior year. Email privacy@rooftopdaily.com.
Nevada. Nevada residents may opt out of the sale of covered information at Your Privacy Choices.
7. How to opt out
You can opt out at any time, in any of these ways:
| What you want to stop | How |
|---|---|
| Everything at once: sharing, marketing and personalized ads, with deletion if you choose | Fill in Your Privacy Choices, or email privacy@rooftopdaily.com with “Opt out” in the subject |
| Calls or texts from a partner | Reply STOP to any text. Tell the caller to stop calling. Or use Your Privacy Choices and we will pass your request to every partner we sent your information to. |
| Our newsletter | Click “unsubscribe” in any email |
| Sale or sharing, and targeted ads | Use Your Privacy Choices or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser |
| Personalized Google ads | Google’s Ad Settings |
What we do with your opt-out
- We stop any further sharing of your information with partners right away, and in all cases within 10 business days.
- We send your opt-out to every partner we sent your information to, and ask each one to stop calling, texting and emailing you. Partners must honor reasonable opt-out requests under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and their own policies. Because each partner controls its own records, you can also contact a partner directly using the details in its privacy policy.
- We remove you from our newsletter.
- We switch your browser to non-personalized ads.
- We keep a minimal record of your opt-out (for example, your email or phone number and the date) so we can keep honoring it.
8. How long we keep information
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Newsletter email address | Until you unsubscribe, plus a suppression record so we don’t email you again |
| Offer-form submissions and consent records | from submission, to prove consent under the TCPA and state law. |
| Privacy requests and opt-outs | At least 24 months, as some state laws require |
| Analytics data | or as set in our analytics settings |
We delete or de-identify information when it’s no longer needed for these purposes.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limited staff access. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Rooftop Daily is written for adults and isn’t directed to children. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13, and partner offers are only for people 18 and older. We don’t sell, or use for targeted advertising, the personal information of anyone we know is under 18. If you believe a child has given us information, email privacy@rooftopdaily.com and we’ll delete it.
11. Readers outside the United States
The site is meant for U.S. readers, and our partners serve U.S. homes. Information is stored and processed in the United States.
12. Links to other sites
Guides link to other websites, such as government sources and partners’ sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We’ll post any change here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you already gave us, we’ll ask for your consent where the law requires it.
